    • People who get the work done when someone is showing up for them
    • People who meet their goals when it's on the calendar
    • People who get motivated by group endeavor
    • People who have a really good idea they want to explore
    • People who are ready to begin the work

  • What is my message?
  • What are my readers' expectations?
  • How can I invite my readers in?

Your class will meet on Zoom at 8 a.m. EST on these dates:

  • Friday, January 31, 2025
  • Friday, February 7, 2025
  • Friday, February 14, 2025
  • Friday, February 21, 2025
  • Friday, February 28, 2025
  • Friday, March 7, 2025

Your assignments will be due on Wednesdays at 8 a.m. before the next session for coach review.

Meet Your instructor

I’m an editor and book coach who supports writers in getting their thoughts and dreams to the reading public. My coaching supports writers in planning, outlining, drafting, and revision, and I’m here to coach writers who want to finally share their book with readers. Together we work on mindset, craft, and accountability.

Over my career, I’ve supported creative expression as a copy editor, freelance writer, coach, workshop facilitator, and magazine editor. I write to build my own craft, and I write for clients. I trained as a book coach because I love to support artists and their goals. I believe the world is better with books.

affordable book coaching, with a built-in support group

I love groups. I join groups and classes.

I love working on a skill or project with others — even if

we're working on our individual goals.

Groups stretch my skills and abilities in the best ways.

That's how I learned to paint. And do yoga and archery and line dancing.

I've gone to summer camps for grownups,

danced a pre-show at the Grand Ole Opry,

and learned to write poetry,

all because I joined in when someone said, "You can come along, too."

I want you to have a place to stretch your skills and connect with others.

That's why I added this group book coaching option to my services in 2025.

If you told yourself this is your year to write a book,

consider this your invitation to join me.

FAQ's

Yes, this group is for earlybirds! The sessions are scheduled for one hour, 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. EST on Fridays. You can even show up a little early for a coffee chat. Get your book plans brewing first thing Friday morning. Afterwards, you can go on with your day and let your ideas settle before diving into the assigned work.

Our sessions will include discussions and prompts, but I will assign you some book-planning work to complete on your own. Your work will be due 8 a.m. on Wednesday before the next session. I will review it and provide general feedback before we meet. Members of the group may also be asked, at times, to provide feedback on each other's submissions.

Ideas become better when they are shared. While it is not mandatory to speak up and share, it will be encouraged. I also expect all group members to support one another with care in their questioning and feedback. Writing can be lonely — that's why writers need community. Members of Build Your Book may also be asked, at times, to provide feedback or comments on each other's submissions.

No, but I will be reviewing the work of all participants and offering feedback. If there are common challenges showing up in the work, I may ask a writer to take part in hotseat coaching during the next call for the benefit of everyone. I offer group courses because I love working in groups myself, but also because some writers need an option that is more financially accessible. If one-to-one coaching is what you want, I do have individual coaching options. Request a meeting with me to find out if it is for you. Click here to choose a time.

Yes, we're meeting on a video call, either Zoom or Google Meet (tbd).  I will send you a link and you can log in from your own device.

When you sign up, you should be able to commit to all or nearly all of the dates to get the best outcomes, so I encourage you to review the dates and times now. You will have access to the assigned work, but our group sessions will give you the best support in completing it.

Due to nature of the course delivery and the short time frame, there are no refunds available after purchase. Please review the terms and conditions in the group coaching agreement before purchase.

More questions? Click Contact Me at the top of the page and ask! I'll respond as soon as I can.

Writing has the power to instigate change, to shift the thinking of a reader or change their hearts.

We write to explore our thoughts, to understand relationships, to test out ideas.

We write to connect with the world, to leave a legacy.

We write with the idea that someone will read our writing and be changed.

This is why we do it.

Are you ready?

Think about how you will feel when you take action to meet your goal.

Once you have your book plan ready, you'll be able to move forward into writing with a sense of direction and purpose.

It’s like holding a compass in your hand. It points you home.

Build Your Book in 6 Weeks begins this month. Join me and your writing colleagues in this book-planning challenge.
